Send Senator Marco Rubio a Message.

Tell U.S. Senator Marco Rubio to withdraw S. 670, the Sunshine Protection Act of 2019, which would force people to set their clocks to the wrong time year-round. Eastern Standard Time is the mean solar time of 75° west, which runs through the Bahamas. All of Florida is west of that, and Rubio wants to use the mean solar time of 60° west, year-round. That runs between St. Lucia and Barbados. When Eastern Standard Time is observed, the clocks in the Florida State Capitol are 37 minutes and 8 seconds ahead of the mean solar time for their location, and when Eastern Daylight Saving Time is observed, they are 1 hour, 37 minutes and 8 seconds ahead of it. Part of Florida belongs on Central Standard Time year-round, and part belongs on Eastern Standard Time year-round. (The boundary actually belongs at 82.5° west, but that runs right through TAMPA, so they TAMPERED with it.)

Ending the annual clock changes is an excellent idea, but the honest time, closely approximating mean solar time, should be observed. Politicians should not impose the wrong time to favor one special interest group over another.

Standard Not Daylight .com
Facts are stubborn things.

The House of Representatives version, H.R. 1556, is sponsored by Rep. Vern Buchanan, of Florida’s 16th Congressional District, and co-sponsored by Rep. Michael Waltz of the 6th District, Rep. Bill Posey of the 8th District, Rep. Darren Soto of the 9th District, Rep. W. Gregory Steube of the 17th District, Rep. Francis Rooney of the 19th District, and Rep. Alcee L. Hastings of the 20th District.

If you live in Florida, you can reach Senator Rubio through the contact form on https://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contact. Please tell him his staff should answer the telephone, 1-202-224-3041, whether or not the caller will navigate menus. The Senator decided to configure the telephone system to reject calls when the caller refuses to navigate menus, but the caller can review the chessboard for ways to fight back against such abuse. Nobody should be forced to navigate menus or babble to robots to get help from a federal bureaucrat.

A Warning

Got money? There are legal limits on how much money you can donate to a candidate trying to defeat President Trump’s re-election bid, but is there a limit on how many copies of this book you can donate to public libraries in swing States? Wouldn’t that be tax-deductible?

How to defeat Trump

Trump won in Florida by 112,911 votes over Clinton, while Johnson got 207,043 votes. Had the Libertarians been allowed into the debates, they — two former Republican governors — would have been able to take more votes away from Trump. The key here is to get the Libertarians into the debates. Tell the pollsters you’re voting for the Libertarians, even if you’re not. The Democrats need to refuse to debate without the Libertarians invited. The Democrats can find an organization that will run a debate with the Democrats and Libertarians, and if the Republicans don’t show up it is their choice. This way, everybody wins because Donald Trump gets defeated and because the Libertarians get to present their solutions to more voters.      The reason Libertarians don’t get much coverage is because the TV reporter has a million couch potatoes with their thumbs on the remote. Most viewers will bail out at the first sign of anything that requires thinking. Sadly, their votes count.
